Lance C. Smith, MD

Board-Certified Orthopedic Spine Surgeon

I practice medicine in Oklahoma City, as an orthopedic spine surgeon, but proudly provide care to patients from surrounding states, as well.  My team and I are deeply committed to providing the absolute best care for our patients, and we work hard to create a treatment plan that is unique to each individual. We recognize and understand that people are often scared to see a spine specialist because they feel that their health issue may not have a solution.  However, I hope to make my patients feel comfortable in discussing their concerns and their goals with me so that together, we can collaborate to come up with a comprehensive and positive course of action that they can have confidence in, whether it be surgical or non-surgical.

Working with my patients brings me great joy and fulfillment, and there is nothing more rewarding for me than being a part of getting them back to being able to live their lives to the fullest.  I truly enjoy getting to know each one of my patients, hearing their stories and what makes them tick so that I can best tailor their treatment plan in order to help them achieve their objectives and most importantly, get them back to doing what they love most.

I was raised in rural Missouri, and my inspiration to become a physician came from my grandfather, who was a pharmacist in town.  Growing up, I truly admired and enjoyed watching the impact that my grandfather had on others’ lives.  From a young age, I knew I wanted to work in medicine, and I have always felt that my calling in life is to serve others, using the skills that I have been given by God to the best of my capabilities to leave a positive impact on those around me.

In my downtime, I enjoy spending time outdoors to unwind, deer hunting with friends and family at my ranch here in Oklahoma, hunting big game out west, growing and harvesting crops on my farm, and traveling to new places with my family.  My beautiful wife, Kristen, and I have been blessed with three wonderful children, who are so much fun and keep our hands full.

When we aren’t wrangling the kids, we are also passionate about working with several non-profit organizations, including Wings - Special Needs Community, Make-A-Wish Oklahoma, OKCity Crisis Nursery, Fathers in the Field, and the ministry at On Eagle’s Wings Farm to support the needs of our community.  Our family has been blessed beyond anything I could have ever dreamed of, and it is my great pleasure to live out my purpose and have the opportunity to serve others and give back to my Savior, who has given it all to me.

Besides providing direct patient care in the clinic or when operating, I am also passionate about continuously learning about the latest technological advances in spine care and am thrilled to be involved in developing new implants and surgical instrumentation for various entities.
